There are standards of practice or operation for every profession, organisation, religion, etc., that everyone who claims to be a part of them must work to.

I am a physiotherapist and I have standards of practice set by the body that regulates my profession. If anyone in my profession falls short of any of these standards and it is proven in a hearing, there will be some not so palatable consequences for that.

In the same way, when we chose to become Christians, we signed up to living by the standards that Christ has set for all His followers. Without following this, you will be seen as not adhering to the tenets of the faith. This will of course have consequences.

The God that we serve is Love and the way He sets out before us is that of love. That’s the basis of what we believe in. Now, from this foundation of love, a lot of things can grow such as gentleness, kindness and goodness to others.

Because of love, we will not speak hurtful words to others and we will be patient with one another. This is how we can demonstrate God’s standards of Light and Love! This is how we can make Him happy.

God is light and does not delight in darkness, no never. Ungodly works make Him angry. Make every effort to rid yourself of them all, then He will delight in you and stand for you.

Prayer:

Father Lord, thank You for the standards of Christian living which You have set for us through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

I pray that we will be able, by Your strength, to uphold these standards in our words, thoughts and deeds. Where we still fall short, please give us the wisdom and Spirit to overcome so we may continue to stand, in Yeshua’s mighty name. #Selah.
